Important Reminding Before Doing Application Online
Please make sure you have well prepared scan or photo copies of the following required documents and be aware of the alternative ways to pay for application fee.
Application Fee
Two payment methods – direct bank transfer and PayPal online payment, are available for applicants.
1. Applicants can use a direct bank transfer to pay the application fee. The instructions would be found on the webpage of "Make Payment" in application procedure.
2. PayPal online Payment. If you have used Paypal in the past, please click the PayPal button on the webpage of "Make Payment" and follow the directions.
If you have never used Paypal before, you must first use your E-mail to register a Paypal account. After confirming and activating your Paypal account, follow the instructions and register your credit card with your account. Once your credit card is linked to your Paypal account you can use this to pay the application fee.
1.Ways to Apply to Study at CAU
(1) Chinese Governmental Scholarship
This scholarship is set for the educational exchange program signed or the understanding reached by China and other countries, Organizations or institutions, It is divided into full scholarship and partial scholarship. Applicants can apply through the relevant authority of the dispatching country or the Chinese embassy(consulate), CAU will not deal with individual applications. (2) Study Costs for Self-supported Students
Applicants can apply directly to the Office of International Relations of CAU.
2.Preparation of Application Materials and Deadline of Application
I. Qualified applicants should fill out the Application Form for Foreigner Wishing to Study at CAU.
II. (A) Submission of the Following Materials for Diploma Study:
(1) Highest diploma or degree(notarized photocopy)
(2) Transcripts (notarized photocopy)
(3) Master's or Doctor's applicants must submit two letters of recommendation
(4) One copy of Certificate of Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK). A primary stage C grade qualification of the HSK is necessary.
(B) Submission of the Following Materials for Training Programs
(1) Copied Highest Diploma
(2) Personal Resume
The Self-support undergraduate applicants must apply to the Office of International Cooperation & Exchange of CAU before May 15 and the graduate applicants must apply before December 25 the last year.
3. The Enrollment Examinations and Tests
(1) The applicants for undergraduates in science, engineering, agriculture or medicine should take the tests of mathematics, physics and chemistry organized by CAU. The applicants for undergraduates in social science, economics and law should take the test of mathematics.
(2) The applicants for graduates should take the enrollment examinations or the tests organized by the state or CAU. The students, with excellent performance both in conduct and study who have finished one level of study in China and continue to pursue a higher level degree study in China, can be enrolled by CAU without enrollment examinations or tests.
4. Tuition and Living Fee
(1) Application Fee: 400 RMB or 50 USD
Note: Application fee is nonrefundable.
(2) Tuition: (Per year)
Bachelor's Degree: 20,000 RMB
Master's Degree: 26,000 RMB
Doctoral Degree: 30,000 RMB
General Scholar: 26,000 RMB
Senior Scholar: 30,000 RMB
(3) Comprehensive Medical Insurance Fee:600 RMB/per year
(4) Room Fee:
Apartment for Foreign Student (two-room): 65 RMB/Per day with the equipment of phone, refrigerator, TV, air conditioner, kitchen room and bath room for personal use.
Remarks: Chinese courses for a period of one year are needed for those without certain mastery of Mandarin.
Chinese is the major teaching language for foreign students studying in China Agricultural University(CAU). Moreover, reserved books, magazines and other literal materials in university library and archive houses are also mainly in Chinese. So foreign students will have to grasp Chinese so as to smoothly finish their schooling tasks. A primary stage C grade qualification of the Chinese Proficiency Test(HSK) is necessary for those to be scientific or technological undergraduates, and medium stage C Grade for Chinese literature, Chinese history, philosophy and Chinese medicines.
Undergraduates who have not learned Chinese before they come to China or who fail to conform to the Chinese standard required will have to learn fundamental Chinese for 1-2 years after they arrive in china. Refreshers and postgraduates who use foreign languages as teaching ones are also required to learn some Chinese for the convenience both in daily life and study.
