College of Fine Arts of Central University of Nationalities is specialized in cultivating high-quality art-majored talents from various ethnic groups. The College of Fine Arts grows out of the Art Department of Central Institute of Nationalities which was founded in 1959. Later in 1983, the Art Department was established and developed into the College of Fine Arts in 2002.
The college of Continual Education of CUN was set up in 2000 based on the former Administrators College, Adult Education Office, Correspondence Course Office of Night College and Cadre Training Department. After the establishment of College of Continual Education.

The School of Education of CUN is an important research center for ethnic education in China. It is a new-style teaching and research institution which integrates education and art, teaching and research, bearing the important mission to educate professionals in ethnic education for the country.
The School of Ethnological Studies, now the School of Ethnology and Sociology (Institute of Ethnic Research), was established on March 17, 1994, by the approval of State Commission of Ethnic Affairs, on the basis of its predecessor.
School of Foreign Languages of CUN has a history of 50 years. Its predecessor was the Section of Foreign Languages founded in 1956. In February 1986, the foreign language department was established, and in 1987 began enrolling undergraduate English majors.
Established in 1956, the Department of History is one of the first departments in the Central University for Nationalities (CUN). In its early days, many famous scholars and senior professors, such as Wu Wenzao, Fei Xiaotong, Pan Guangdan, Weng Dujian, Lin Yaohua, Fu Yuehuan and Wang Zhonghan worked here.
The College of International Education was founded in 2002. We have 30 faculty and staff. 80% of the faculty members possess the National Certificate of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL, Level A).
It is the only department of Kazakh language and literature in Chinese universities and colleges, and the birthplace of this specialty in China. In 1953, the first undergraduate program of the Kazakh language was initiated here, which was expanded into a department in 2004. It has been the most authoritative training center for learners of Kazakh language and culture in China.
The Department of Korean Language and Literature at the Central University of Nationalities (hereafter the Korean Department) developed from the Korean Language and Literature major, which was established in 1972 at the Central Institute of Nationalities, and was not upgraded into the Korean Department until 1992.
The academic discipline of Language and Literature of Chinese Ethnic Minorities was established in early 1950’s and ratified as the National Key Academic Discipline in 2002.
The Law School was founded in August of 2000 and its predecessor was the Law Department of the Central Institute of Nationalities. Though the Central University did not enroll undergraduates majoring in law until 1979, it is one of the first Chinese universities that started this major.
The College of Life Science and Environmental Sciences of CUN is formerly known as the Department of Biology and Chemistry established in 1986, which enrolled tertiary students of biology and chemistry. It began to enroll undergraduate college students in 1994, and MS candidates of Ecology in 2001.
The College of Literature and Journalist Communications (formerly the Department of Chinese Language and Literature) was founded in 1964. In 1993 it was renamed as the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, usually referred to as the Chinese Department. In 2003 the College of Literature Journalist Communications was established.
