Central Path at BJTU

BJTU is one of the five Jiaotong (or Chiao-Tung) universities in China. The word "Jiaotong", which once simply meant "communications" in Chinese, has now already matured into the quintet's trademark of origin, history, quality and value.

Our international office has benefited enormously from this trademark effect and been enjoying active international involvement. Founded in 1896, Beijing Jiaotong University (formerly known as Northern Jiaotong University) is one of China's oldest universities.

Under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, BJTU is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary national key university, covering a wide range of subjects in liberal arts, science, engineering and management.

Rich in Faculty and Programms

BJTU has a faculty and staff of over 2,800 members (including 10 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, more than 800 professors and associate professors), 14,000 undergraduate students, 6,000 master's students and 2,000 Ph.D. students. In addition, there are nearly 500 overseas students from over 60 countries.

BJTU offers 34 undergraduate programs, 120 master's programs and 60 Ph.D. programs. BJTU also offers the part-time and full-time language learning for non-degree-seeking overseas students. 

The university has first-rate teaching and research equipment, abundant library resources and a complete set of sport and recreational facilities, which provide her students with a suitable environment for study and living. Now there are nearly 500 overseas students from over 60 countries and regions studying at BJTU.

Beijing Jiaotong University  is one of the earliest universities authorized by the Chinese government to enroll overseas students. Ever since BJTU has received over 3,000 foreign students and visiting scholars from over 70 countries and regions of Asia, Africa, Europe and North America etc.

Convenience in Traffic

Located on the 2nd ring of the city of Beijing, BJTU is nearby the Xizhimen metro station and other means of urban transportation. The distance from Beijing airport to BJTU campus is 35km and transport between is very convenient.
