BinHai College is located in the sunny side of Qingdao, and enjoys the many benefits of the developing, modern Chinese city. I am a teacher of Oral English, and my experience at BinHai has been a very relaxing, peaceful, and enjoyable one. Now, why don't you sit down and let me tell you about it...
The teaching experience has been like that of a cloud floating in the sky. The administration is not heavily strict, nor very strict for that matter. The course work is not strenuous for a teacher in my position, and the administration grants us a lot of freedom, and being a foreign teacher, that's great, but also for the students because they like to see our innovation! The Foreign Affairs department is also a great help. Letters and parcels are always delivered efficiently and help is always given in such a kind-hearted way.
The students are a bright bunch. They are enthusiastic and willing to participate, because they all enjoy working with a foriegn teacher and learning from our experiences. I have found the English level of the students here to be quite good, which makes teaching them feel like reading a very enjoyable book. The college is located in a quiet part of the city, not too far from the local hotspots, namely Qingdao and the beach! The area is right next to the ocean, so the air is very fresh, not polluted like some Chinese cities. The area is developing quickly, which makes it an ideal place to establish some business, and I have seen some foreigners do so successfully.

Binhai University is for me the first place I got the opportunity to work as a foreign teacher in China. I started
teaching here with the beginning of the summer term 2006. Meanwhile two years passed and I am still working here. Huangdao, the place where the college is located, is less known even it belongs to the more famous Qingdao. But Qingdao is quickly reached by ferry or bus and also Huangdao provides everything you need for daily live. I think it is a nice an convenient place to live. The first impression of Binhai University I had is that it is very clean and the area is larger than I had expected it to be. There is a lot of green and little parks within which give it a pleasant appearance. Daily life has it's own pace here due to the fact that the campus is separated from the "outer world". At least it is a very safe place and I never felt uncomfortable here. The work here is different to what I experienced in other countries before. Of course I have my curriculum but I am rather free how and sometimes what to teach. That gives me the good opportunity to choose the most adequate teaching method for my students. The students are like all students - some are diligent, some are less. Nevertheless I think the relationship between teachers and students in general is more familiar than in western countries. Surprising for me is that even less hardworking students still friendly and polite when I meet them outside the classroom. All together, I enjoy life here and do not regret that I came here to work and live.

Hi, I have been working in Binhai for almost 2 years now, teaching the Russian language to the students of Western Languages Department. My impressions on this school are quite positive, and i hope to stay and work here for another year or two. This is what i like about Binhai, 1) It is honest. Whatever is written in my contract is true. Whatever is promised is done. There is no cheating. I appreciate that more than anything else. 2) It is friendly. The teachers who work here are very nice people and have always been very kind to me. I have become good friends with some of my co-workers and will probably keep the friendship even after i leave this job. 3) It is safe. I have heard stories of people's motorbikes stolen from other institutes' campuses and of burglars getting into people's apartments through the windows. Nothing like that is happening here. 4) It keeps the students disciplined. You know some students don't have to be controlled and are self-motivated in their studies. Unfortunately, though, most of them are different. So Binhai got some pretty strict rules which actually make the students study even if they don't want to. I should also say that these rules make them grow up into responsible and decent people. When freshmen come here to study, many of them are just 20-year-old children with little notion of how to communicate to peers, how to be a good member of a group etc. When they leave Binhai, they are grown up people. 5) Finally, it is located in a great spot. It takes me half an hour by bus to get to one of the coolest beaches in town. Malls, bars, restaurants and any other services you might need are all located nearby. This part of Qingdao is a really wonderful place to live.
