Bohai University (BU) was founded in February, 1950. As a comprehensive university administered by Liaoning Province Department of Education, it has successfully trained 100,000 plus graduates for China. Located in Jinzhou, a seaside city with a long history in Liaoning Province, it is 490 kilometers away from Beijing, the capital of People’s Republic of China, and 240 kilometers away from Shenyang, the capital city of Liaoning Province.
Formerly called International Exchange Office, College of International Exchange (CIE) was organized in November, 2010, in combination with staff and students from Section of Teaching Chinese to International Students, Department of Chinese Language and Literature. Nowadays, apart from its previous administration job, CIE handles both international exchange activities and the task of teaching Chinese to international students.
The first-class program of Chinese language and literature in Liaoning Province: It is made up of programs in Chinese language and literature, and teaching of Chinese to international students, which promote to a great degree the development of international students' education. As the nationally recognized discipline, Chinese teaching is ranked first in Liaoning Province as a key profession. There is the only research base in Liaoning Province—Linguistics and Applied Linguistics Base, 2 master's degree programs in linguistics, and a master's degree program in international education of Chinese language and literature.
Located in the eastern part of "Liaoxi Corridor", southeastern part of Liaoning Province, southern section of Songling Mountain, and northern side of Bohai Sea, Jinzhou City, an important seaport and airport city opened to the outside world, is a traffic linchpin connecting Northeast and Northern China, which is 490 kilometers away from Beijing (3-hour journey by D-train), 240 kilometers away from Shenyang (1-hour journey by D-train), and 380 kilometer away from Dalian (4.5-hour journey by bus or train).
