Objectives
Thevprograms are designed to meet the increasing demand of Chinese in internationalvcommunication. We aim at producing qualified and versatile personnel for a variety of broad exchanges with China.
Brief Introduction
4-year program, may be extended to a maximum of 6 years.
20 classroom hours are arranged for required courses Monday through Friday mornings.
Optional courses are conducted Monday through Friday afternoons.
Tests are scheduled at the end of each semester.
Those who meet the credit requirements in less than 4 years may get a diploma ahead of scheduled graduation.
No diploma will be awarded to students who fail to complete their studies within the extended time.

It begins on September 1st. every year.
Field trips
Field trips to sites of historical interests and one to places outside of Xi'an or the province are organized each semester so that students may practice the language and learn the culture outside of their classrooms.
HSK test and Certificate
Entrusted by the State Commission of Chinese Proficiency Test Center, School of Chinese Studies administers the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) on the second Sunday of May and July, and the third Sunday of December every year.
Student who passes the test is awarded the Certificate for Chinese Proficiency.

- Students with certificates granted from senior high schools or institutions above level are eligible for admission;
- Chinese language proficiency up to elementary C in HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi: Standard Chinese Language Proficiency Test);
- Under 45;
- In good health

A recent passport-sized photo of the applicant
- Certificate/diploma of highest education
Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.
