5. About dissertation

1. Academic research and dissertation are the requirements for ability of creativity in training graduate; Practice is emphasizing for students in chemical engineering and technology. Under the instructing, a graduate should read widely literatures and review regularly about the subject to achieve their thesis.

2. The thesis selected is provided with significant and importance for developing in major of chemical engineering and technology, it is better to belongs to the national and local key projects. As one of the examination, the primary report should be completed and approved with 3 experts about relative fields in the fifth term; meanwhile the texture is improved and enhanced.

3. The regularly examinations are taken during the performance. The student who are not able to pass the mid-examine is prohibited to continue his thesis. The primary report and dissertation style are accord with the graduate-regulations issued by Shanghai University.

4. The thesis has to be examined before the oral presentation, while the examination committee evaluates the thesis on the novelty, technicality, correctness and applicability. If an examiner does not satisfied with the thesis, the thesis should be amended and supplemented accordingly, and be examined again; otherwise the oral presentation cannot be arranged and the degree cannot be awarded. Before the formal oral presentation, a preliminary oral presentation should be processed. An examination committee for the preliminary oral should evaluate the thesis and the student who does not pass the pre-examination should make necessary corrections within three to six months. After his/her supervisor agrees the submission of the thesis, a formal oral presentation will be arranged.

5. After the thesis is submitted, the examination and oral presentation for master degree should be arranged in accordance with "Degree Regulations of The Peoples Republic of China" and "Detailed regulations on the award of degree in Shanghai University". The examination committee should enclose the supervisor and other two examiners with qualifications.

    Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.
  5. Two letters of recommendation
    From professor or associate professor or equivalents
  6. Study plan
    Including study purpose, research interest and research plan in brief. (at least 1 A4 page)
  7. Certificate of Chinese language education
    For applying Chinese-medium programs.
  8. Certificate of HSK
    Certificate of HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test),
