MA in First Class Subjects of History

1. Cultivation Aims
Each subject such as Chinese Modern and Contemporary History, Chinese Ancient History, World History and Specialism History, is led by the well-known professors with their academic colleagues. Each group maintains exchange with other universities. The articles they have done have the effect both internal and external. Recently they are endeavoring in deepening the acknowledge in History in the view of more dimensions in other subjects and surveying new area. The program aims to cultivate qualified personnel who are well developed with the ability of independent analysis and problem solving.

5. Research and Thesis

5.1 After requiring all the credits, candidates are eligible for conducting research on their theses.

5.2 Candidates must present their topics and writing plan in their second year under the guidance of their supervisors, and then conduct thesis preliminary conference. 3 to 5 deliberate members at least 3 professor or associate professor must be presented. The topic and content must obtain  some academic or practical value.

5.3 During the theses writing, candidates should take an active in their supervisors program to enhance the ability in theoretical and research. The thesis should be conducted in accordance with "The Quantification Index on Research Achievements of Shanghai University for Master's and Doctoral Candidates."

5.4 After having finished the theses and obtaining the approval of three professor including the candidate's supervisor, the candidate can have the chance of debate given by experts.

5.5 The completed theses should be assessed degrees conferred in accordance with "Regulations Concerning Academic Degrees in the People's Republic of China." And "Rules Concerning Academic Degree in Shanghai University."

  4. Bachelor's degree diploma
    Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.
  5. Two letters of recommendation
    From professor or associate professor or equivalents
  6. Study plan
    Including study purpose, research interest and research plan in brief. (at least 1 A4 page)
  7. Certificate of Chinese language education
    For applying Chinese-medium programs.
  8. Certificate of HSK
    Certificate of HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test),
