1. Brief Introduction

Chinese for Business and Commerce program is a carefully orchestrated program for international students by ICCS, SHNU. ICCS has offered Business Chinese as an optional course for years and obtained plentiful teaching experience. In order to improve students’ business competence as well as Chinese proficiency, ICCS provides the particular program-Chinese for Business and Commerce. It helps students obtain business knowledge and gain successful post-graduation involvement in business and trade work.

2. Target Group

Students dedicated to doing business and trade in China as well as employees in foreign enterprises.

3. Course Objective
with excellent faculty and scientific curriculum, to improve students’ Chinese proficiency as well as business competence and expand commercial knowledge within a short duration.

4. Courses

Core courses:
Chinese Listening for Business, Business Conversation, Business Reading, Practical Writing for Business.

Optional Courses:
Chinese Economy, A Survey of China, Chinese Culture, Hot-topic Discussions, etc.

All courses are to develop practical Chinese competence in business and commerce in four aspects: speaking, reading, listening and writing.

5. Class Arrangements

Small class size; Particular class study supervisor; Tutorial

6. Social Activities

3 to 5 days field-trip out of Shanghai; Visits to various Chinese enterprises

7. Admission Requirements

Elementary: HSK Level 3 or vocabulary exceeding 2000 words
Intermediate: HSK Level 5 or vocabulary exceeding 4000 words.
Advanced:  HSK Level 7 or vocabulary exceeding 6000 words.

8. Certificate and Credits

Upon successful completion of all courses, a certificate of Business Chinese and 20 credits will be issued by SHNU.


9. Tuition Fee

RMB 8800/semester

• HSK 3 or above;
• High school graduation or above

Top↑Application Materials

1. Certificate of HSK
   HSK Band 3 for elementary course; HSK Band 5 for Intermediate course; HSK Band 7 for advanced course;
2. Photocopy of valid passport
   With name, passport number & expiration date, and photo included
3. Passport photo
   A recent passport-sized photo of the applicant
4. Certificate/diploma of highest education
   Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.
