Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE) is located to the west of Xinghai Park in Dalian, which is known as a national tourist resort. The University, founded in 1952, is a multidisciplinary teaching and research institution with its academic programs focusing on economics, management, law, arts and science.

The University has 31 schools and departments, including the School of International Economics and Business Communication, the School of International Business, the School of Finance, etc. The University's MBA program was ranked second place in the national assessment conducted by the Academic Degree Administration Office of the State Council in 2000. DUFE encourages international cooperation with overseas universities. It has established collaborative relationships with universities from different countries, such as the USA, Britain, Germany, Russia, France, Japan, Korea, Canada, Australia and Thailand. It is a qualified institution authorized by China's Ministry of Education to recruit international students and is qualified to administer the BCT test.

International institute of Chinese language and culture

International Institute of Chinese Language and Culture (IICLC) is a designated administrative institution in Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE) to recruit international students for both degree programs and non-degree programs. The Institute is managing teaching and administrative affairs of international students who are enrolled in undergraduate programs, graduate programs, long-term and short-term Chinese training programs. It is also capable of providing international students with study and living facilities. Since 1988 when the Institute was founded, it has produced thousands of graduates from over 20 countries all over the world, including Japan, Korea, USA, France, Canada, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Mongolia, etc. Currently, there are more than 300 international students studying in the IICLC and over100 students studying for degree courses.

The Institute boasts an excellent team of faculty members with rich teaching experience and serious attitudes toward teaching. All the teachers are holders of the state accredited certificate of teaching Chinese as foreign language. In addition to the solid background of Chinese language teaching, the Institute also benefits from the University's strength of economics and management education. Courses such as business Chinese, business negotiation in Chinese, applied business writing, and seminars on economic issues are also available to intermediate and advanced Chinese learners. To enrich the students' learning experience, the Institute arranges various electives and field study trips for its students.

There are two undergraduate programs offered in the Institute: Chinese and International Economics and Trade. In addition, 31 undergraduate programs, 54 master's programs and 34 doctoral programs offered by other schools or departments of the University are available to interested international students as well.

International Institute of Chinese Language and Culture (IICLC) boasts an excellent team of faculty members. The faculty is comprised of over thirty full-time and part-time teachers, among whom there are four professors and eight associate professors. 80% of them are holders of Master's degree, and two of them are Ph. D candidates. The majority of the faculty are holders of Certificate of Teaching Chinese As Foreign Language. Most of them graduated from Chinese programs and Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language Programs of prestigious universities such as Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Jilin

University, Beijing University of Language and Culture, Dongbei (Northeast) Normal University, Liaoning University, Xibei (Northwest) Normal University. Some of them are holders of dual degree in both Chinese and Economics. Supported by the variety of the faculty, IICLC develops its features of business Chinese teaching and its future working concentration of language test and research.

The faculty has achieved reputation for being committed, experienced and highly qualified teachers and researchers. Over years of teaching practice and theoretical research, IICLC develops its research interests in teaching Chinese as foreign language, second language acquisition, modern Chinese, cross-cultural communication, Chinese culture, folklore, education and economics.
