Most of the majors for PhD could be taught in English. Doctor students could choose their major to be taught in Chinese or English language based on their own situation, and their degree dissertation could be chosen to be written in Chinese or English.

Non-Chinese, who haven’t broken laws, are required to have master degree.

- Health certificate
Photocopy of notarized foreigner physical examination record (for durations of study over 6 months)
- Photocopy of valid passport
With name, passport number & expiration date, and photo included
- Passport photo
A recent passport-sized photo of the applicant
- Master's degree diploma
Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.
- Two letters of recommendation
From professor or associate professor or equivalents
- Research plan
- Postgraduate school transcript
