Course Description

• Bachelors of Arts (BA) - 4 Years of Study (3 Years for Native English Speakers) *  
• Our Bachelors courses in the Business and Economics Division cover all major areas of business management. Skills in analysing quantitative material will be developed alongside the ability to present good oral and written analysis.
• Students may study partly in Shanghai and partly in the UK, and receive a degree certificate from one of the nine SBC partner universities.
• Our degree gives you the flexibility to explore a range of topics and to specialise in line with your interests. You will learn about contemporary issues in business management and there will be opportunities to undertake project-based and individual work at a demanding level.

• Typical course modules include financial and management accounting, economics, organisational behaviour, statistics, supply chain management, management information systems, marketing, hr management, consumer behaviour, business strategy, and corporate social responsibility.

Choices for Non-Native English Speakers

• 3 + 1 consists of 3 years at SBC in Shanghai + 1 final year UK study
• 2 + 2 consists of 2 years at SBC in Shanghai + 2 years UK study

Choices for Native English and Near-Native English Language Speakers

• 2 + 1 consists of 2 years at SBC in Shanghai + 1 final year UK study
• 1 + 2 consists of 1 year at SBC in Shanghai + 2 years UK study  

International Foundation Year - First Year of study at SBC in Shanghai  

• Equivalent to an "Access Course", or;
• Equivalent to NCUK's International Foundation Year certificate;
• Transferrable credit accepted at a large number of British universities 

International Diploma - Second Year of study at SBC in Shanghai  

• Equivalent to the common Year 1 of the 3-years bachelors programme in the UK, or;
• Equivalent to NCUK's International Diploma Certificate;
• Transferrable credit accepted at a large number of British universities

Top↑Entry Requirements

Entry requirements are split into 2 main categories: (A) Academic Requirements and; (B) English Language Requirements. Native-English speakers are generally exempt from the English language requirements and only need to meet the Academic Requirements described in section A. 

Section A - Academic Requirements

• SBC Year 1 Entry - Academic Requirements
  Applicants to SBC Year 1 usually need to have successfully completed 12 years of school education with satisfactory passes in their leaving examinations.
   
• SBC Year 2 Entry - Academic Requirements
  In general, students should be of sufficient age (at least 18 years old by 30th September in their year of entry to SBC Year 2). In addition to successful completion of 12 years of school education with satisfactory passes in their leaving examinations, direct entry into SBC Year 2 requires academic requirements and English language requirements as below.

Table A summarises the academic requirements for Native English Speakers and Near-Native English Speakers seeking entry into SBC Year 2 leading to bachelors degrees at each of the 9 partner universities. In addition to these academic requirements, Non-Native English Speakers must meet English Language qualifications which are summarised in section B below.

In addition to those entry requirements detailed in the table and links above, students with international foundation qualifications from countries including Australia, Canada, or UK may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Section B - English Language Requirements

The following section summarises the English language requirements for Non-Native English Speakers seeking entry into SBC leading to bachelors degrees at each of the 9 partner universities. In addition to these English language requirements, Non-Native English Speakers must meet the academic requirements which are summarised in Table A above.

• SBC Year 1 Entry - English Language Requirements
  Non-Native English Speakers usually need to have passed the IELTS test and scored at least 5.0 (or TOEFL 500) or equivalent. Applicants may choose to take the SBC entrance exam as an alternative to the IELTS test.
   
• SBC Year 2 Entry - English Language Requirements
  Non-Native English Speakers usually need to have passed the IELTS test and scored at least 6.0 (or TOEFL 550) or equivalent. Performing well in SBC Year 1 is the normal entrance procedure into Year 2 for non-native English speakers.

   A recent passport-sized photo of the applicant
3. High school academic transcript
4. High school graduate certificate
   Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.
5. English proficiency test certificate
   Non-Native English Speakers require copies of IELTS or original TOEFL test report form (or equivalent)
6. Letter of recommendation
   From professor or associate professor or equivalents
7. Personal Statement
   Personal Statement with the applicant's signature, written in Chinese or in English.
