1. The First University Hospital

The hospital covers an area of 46.7 hectars, owns 400,000 square meters of building  for clinical use  while its fixed assets arrives at 3.0 billion RMB. The hospital has 4300 beds, which ranks the first in China and the percentage of clinical usage reaches over 100%. In 2008 the Outpatient Department treated 2.55  million patients ,while the number of the discharged  patients is 0.123 million, 63,000 of whom are operation cases. The present staff number is 6100, more than 550 of whom are professors and associate professors including one academician in Chinese Science Academy, Five special professors involved in "Yangzi River Awards Plan", the 11 persons honored by "National fund of Nature Science for Outstanding Young Scientists", 125 supervisors  for PhD.students, 264  supervisors   of Master"s Degree Prograsm. There exists Postdoctorate Program of National Clinical Medicine and Basic Medicine, the doctorate program of first class in clinical medicine, 31 programs leading to Doctorate Degree. The programs leading to Master"s Degree cover all the disciplines in hospital. There is 1 State Laboratory, 2 key laboratory of Ministry of Education (MOE), 9 key disciplines of MOE, 2 disciplines with the national "211" Project, five key programs of Ministry of  Health, 16 key disciplines and 25 key laboratories in provincial level respectively. In past five years, the hospital obtained 5000 million RMB fund for various scientific and research programs. Nine public natural journals of academy are edited and published by the hospital. There are 36 clinical departments, 15 medical technology departments, 25 open laboratories of scientific and research centers  and Sichuan International Hospital which faces the whole world.

With the construction during 113 years, especially the high-speed development in the past decade, West China Hospital has become a superior large comprehensive teaching and researching hospital with all medical disciplines, a strong teaching faculty, considerable research facilities and the update medical equipments.  The hospital has been ranked among the top hospitals in China since 1990 and is the medical center of sophisticated and severe cases, the center of medical education and the scientific research in Southwest China arranged by MOH and MOE.Excellent Medical Service  and  High Quality of Medical technology

Medical Service

There are 4300 beds, 36 clinical departments, 15 medical technology departments in West China Hospital of  Sichuan University. The present staff number 6100, among whom, there are over 550 professors and associate professors. With the purpose of doing good care and excellent service for the patients, the hospital sets up the Senior Experts Consulting Center, 200 special clinics and walk-in clinic without rest  at weekend and noon. In order to meet the several needs of  public, the hospital also sets up Community Health Center,  Medical Center for Tibet public and Golden Card Hospital.

Medical Equipment

There are 4 MRI, 4 Spiral CT, ECT, Electric Gastroentestinal endoscopy, Several kinds of Endoscopies, Radio Frequence Aberration, Linear Accelerator, Automated biochemical analyzer, Colour Doppler, advanced monitoring system for ICU, PRK, X knife stereotactic radio therapy, Cellular knife therapy series in the hospital. The total value of medical equipment costs almost 5000 million RMB.

Medical Service Level

The diagnosis and treatment of several ten special clinics and nearly one hundred diseases have reached high leading levels domestically and, some of which  have reached international advanced level.

The secretary of  Communist Party Committee of the hospital is Prof. Zheng Shangwei and the  Director of  the hospital is Prof. Shi Yingkang.

2. The Second Hospital

Founded in 1989, as one of the university hospitals affiliated to the key universities directly under the Ministry of Health, the Second Hospital of WCCMS is a comprehensive unit for medical treatment, teaching, research and health care for women and children. It is the largest specialized Women and Children hospital in Southwest China. In 1993, owing to its excellent services, it was given the title of "BABY FRIENDLY HOPSITAL" by the Ministry of Health of China, UNICEF and the WHO together. Since 1996, it has been honored many times by the Ministry of Health and the Health Bureau of Sichuan Province. In 1998, it ranked among the highest "Group A" Women and Children hospitals in China, the first one to be given this honour in the southwest area of the country.

Currently, the Hospital has a capacity of 400 beds, 11 clinical departments, 5 medical technology departments and 14 research laboratories. Of its 465 staff members, 35 have professor or doctor-in-Chief status, and 58 have associate professor or doctor-in-Chief status (Of these 93, 16 are national class specialists, 7 are advisors for doctorate students and 35 MA student’s tutors).

The Hospital has always committed itself to the clinical treatment and consultation work for critical patients in obstetrics/gynecology and pediatrics. These patients may come from Chengdu City, or its 19 county-level cities and counties, from different areas of Sichuan Province and Southwest of China, and even from as far as the Northwest region and Tibet. The annual average number of outpatients is around 27, 200, and in-patients around 13,000.

The hospital is well equipped with advanced facilities and an effective critically care system. Many kinds of medical services are offered such as family-wards, rooming-in wards etc. to different kinds of patients. The hospital is now ranked top in the country in the following fields: diagnosis and operation of gynecological cancers, stimulation of ovulation induction with HMG for infertility and amenorrhea, artificial insemination, pelviscopic operation, treatment for high risk pregnancy, diagnosis and treatment of pediatric hematological and cardiovascular diseases. The Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics are entitled to confer Doctor’s degrees and are authorized by the State Education Ministry to act as centers for post-doctoral studies. They have for years devoted themselves to the teaching, clinical practice instruction and tutoring of undergraduates、MA and PHD students of the University. In addition, medical staff from varied academic backgrounds have been trained here in great numbers every year. In recent years, the Hospital has been awarded altogether 47 prizes by the State, the Ministry and the Province respectively, and has published 987 articles and 94 works.

The Hospital actively participates in international academic exchanges and has established relations with its counterparts in the U.S.A., Canada, Britain, etc. Over 50 staff members have been sent abroad for study and every year some 30 foreign specialists are received by the Hospital.

In addition to its teaching and treatment functions, the Hospital also has several national and provincial scientific research institutes built in it. They are: China Birth Defect Monitoring Centre, China Women and Children program Office, Children’s Acute Respiratory Infection Management and Training Centre, the Southwest Breast-Feeding Promotion and Training Centre, Sichuan Province Cancer Prevention and Treatment Association, Cervical Cancer Committee and Pediatric Hematology Oncology Committee. A specialist group working on a Women and Children program for the southwest area is also attached to the Hospital. With its well-qualified personnel, its advanced facilities and technology, its high quality medical service and its high ethical standards, the Second Hospital of WCUMS is determined to make an even greater contribution to the improvement of the health of women and children.

3. The Hospital of Stomatology

The West China Hospital of Stomatology is known as the oldest stomatological hospital in China. The hospital is consistently at the top of hospitals in the nation. We provide high-quality patient care and services in out-patient section of 16 clinical departments, 4 medical technological departments, and one general dental care room with 310 dental units and in-patient section of department of head and neck tumor sugery, department of trauma and plastic surgery, department of orthognathic surgery and department of cheilopalatognathus surgery with 200 beds, ICU and 7 operation rooms. The hospital takes care for 2 million out-patients and admits 80 thousand in-patients annually, with about 40 thousand operations performed each year.

The hospital provides full range of sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care in virtually every specialty and subspecialty of oral diseases. They includes: temporomandibular joint (TMJ) endoscopy; chemical treatment for malignant tumor combined with microwave heating; combined dissection of craniomaxillofacial surgery for malignant tumor in the head and neck region; computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) for prosthetic dentistry, implant dentistry; serial treatment which combines Chinese and Western medicine for endodontic, periodontic diseases and diseases of oral mucosa; computer-aided treatment system for pulpo-periapical diseases; ultrasonic treatment system for endodontic-periodontal diseases; combined treatment of orthodontics and orthognathic surgery; and orthodontic therapy for adolescent malocclusion. The hospital also offers special patients care covering all range of dental care to children, the elderly and the disable.

West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University has long been known as the base of undertaking the most advanced innovative research in China. Largest hospital-based research programs have been carried out by experts and researchers in  our hospital. These programs lead discoveries and breakthroughs in basic and clinical research to serve for patients. Since founding, our hospital has been set goals to train and teaching students and young staffs in science and medicine by offering opportunities to promote their knowledge and experiences, and of course serve for patients at all.

4. The Fourth University Hospital
The Fourth University Hospital, founded in 1974, acts as a prevention and treatment center for occupational diseases for the southwest of China and as one of the training bases in China for doctors of occupational health and diseases. The hospital specializes in the prevention and treatment of occupational diseases and senile diseases. 200 health workers, including 30 professors and associate professors, work in the hospital. With 130 beds, the hospital consists of 17 clinical departments, a diagnosis-treatment center for osteoporosis, a high-pressure oxygen chamber treatment center and a training center of senile medicine and health care for the treatment of geriatric diseases and health care for the old.
