The UESTC is listed in the “211” Project and “985” Project for higher education in China. Its School of Communication and Information Engineering (SCIE for short) was founded on March 25, 1995, formerly the Department of Radio Technology which was one of the oldest departments in the UESTC.
The School of Electronic Engineering is the largest school of UESTC, and consists of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Department of Microwave Engineering, Department of Information Engineering, Institute of Electronic System Engineering and Electronic Experiment Center.
Established in November 2001, School of Microelectronics & Solid-State Electronics consisted of the original Department of Microelectronic Science & Engineering, the Opt Electronics Center and the School of Information Material Engineering. We now carry out intensive teaching and research programs and cultivate talents correspondingly in such fields as Electronic Materials & Components, Microelectronic Devices and Integrated Circuits.
School of Physical Electronics, founded in Nov. 2001, consists of former Institute of High Energy Electronics, Institute of Applied Physics, Department of Applied Physics. There are Department of Applied Physics, Department of Electronic Information Science and Technology
The School of Opto-Electronic Information was established in November 2001. Its predecessor, the Department of Electronic Vacuum Technology (or the Department of Electronic Devices) was founded in 1956 and renamed as the Department of Opto-Electronic Technology in 1979.
The original school of automation was founded in 1957, which was the automation equipment department with the three departments: resolver equipment, remote control and remote measure, and the automation control.
Established in 1964 as Department of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, our school is the first series of universities that have Mechatronic Control direction. In 2001, it is renamed as School of Mechatronics Engineering.
School of Life Science and Technology (SLST) in UESTC was founded in November 2001 and consists of Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics and Biochemistry& Molecular Biology, where the research group for Biomedical Engineering has been created since 1980.
The school of Applied Mathematics is founded in Nov. 1997 based on the Department of Applied Mathematics, which is established in 1984. The school of Applied Mathematics consists of the Department of Applied Mathematics, the Office of Engineering Mathematics and the Department of Information and Computation Science.
The School of Management of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) was established in 1993, and developed from the former Department of Management Engineering established in 1982. The School of Management receives Ph.D.
School of Humanities and Social Science (SHSS) in UESTC was founded in 1993 on the basis of School of Social Science in UESTC and consists of nearly 100 faculty members, which are composed of 81 teachers and researchers, 14 professors, 34 associate professors, 12 conferred and 11 would be conferred doctors and 28 masters.
Teaching and Research Institute：Foreign Languages College possesses two master programs in Foreign Linguistics & Applied Linguistics and English Language & Literature and includes such sections as Foreign Languages Research Center
