Important Reminding Before Doing Application Online

Please make sure you have well prepared scan or photo copies of the following required documents and be aware of the alternative ways to pay for application fee.

Application Fee

PLEASE BE REMINDED THAT YOUR APPLICATION WON'T BE PROCESSED BY THE SCHOOL UNLESS THE APPLICATION FEE IS PAID. YOU WILL GET THE CONFIRMATION LETTER FROM BOTH THE CUCAS APPLICATION SYSTEM AND THE SCHOOL UPON YOUR PAYMENT ARRIVES.

CUCAS offers four kinds of payment methods, and you would find  your payment details when you doing application online.

1. PayPal: Payments made through Paypal are safe, easy and convenient. If you have used Paypal in the past, please click the PayPal button on the webpage of "Make Payment" and follow the directions.

2. Bank Transfer (T/T) Overseas: Applicants overseas can use bank transfer to pay the application fee in US Dollars.

3. Bank Transfer (T/T) in China: Applicants in China can use a direct bank transfer to pay the application fee in RMB.

4. Western Union: CUCAS recommends applicants who are inconvient with T/T or PayPal payments use Western Union (especially African applicants).


Application Materials

Make sure that you have prepared for the following documents before starting online application. You will be asked to upload attachments when applying.

1. Degree Students

1) College certificate

(1) Academic diploma: a copy of the applicant's latest academic diploma or certificate of university education.
(2) Academic record: the original transcript of academic record (a copy is unacceptable).
(3) Reference letter from applicants' former teacher.
(4) A photocopy of applicant's passport.
(5) A photocopy of the ID of the emergency contact (can be a license, official ID of Chinese citizen or foreigner).
(6) A photocopy of payment receipt (for applicants paying by T/T or online).
(7) One passport-sized photo

2) B.A. Program

(1) Academic diploma: a copy of the applicant's latest academic diploma or certificate of university education.
(2) Academic record: the original transcript of academic record (a copy is unacceptable).
(3) Reference letter from applicants' former teacher.
(4) A photocopy of applicant's passport.
(5) A photocopy of the ID of the emergency contact (can be a license, official ID of Chinese citizen or foreigner).
(6) A photocopy of HSK Level 3 or above certificate, for applicants of Chinese Language major and Chinese Language and Culture major; A photocopy of certificate of HSK Level 6 or above, for those applying to take classes with Chinese students.
(7) A photocopy of payment receipt (for applicants paying by T/T or online).
(8) One passport-sized photo

3) M.A. Program

(1) Academic diploma: a photocopy of B.A. degree. This year's graduates should provide letter of proof from alma mater.
(2) Academic record: original transcript of academic record (A copy is unacceptable).
(3) Reference letters from two professors or experts of related fields.
(4) A photocopy of applicant's passport.
(5) A photocopy of the applicant's emergency contact (can be a passport, license, or other official ID of Chinese citizen or foreigner).
(6) Certificate of HSK Level 6 or above (Medium Level).
(7) The information-collection form for international graduate students.
(8) Study plan (Resume, HSK certificate, study experience, study plan for the M.A program, career orientation after graduation. 800 characters in Chinese).
(9) One passport-sized photo

4) Ph. D. Program

(1) Academic diploma: photocopy of M.A. degree. This year's graduates should provide a letter of proof from alma mater.
(2) Academic record: the original transcript of academic record (a copy of the transcript is unacceptable).
(3) Reference letters from two professors or experts of related fields.
(4) A photocopy of applicant's passport.
(5) A photocopy of the applicant emergency contact (can be a passport, license, or other official ID of Chinese citizen or foreigner).
(6) Certificate of HSK Level 9 (Advanced) or above.
(7) The information-collection form for international graduate students.
(8) Study plan (resume, works, HSK certificate, study experience, study plan during the Ph.D program, goals after graduation. 1500 words in Chinese).
(9) One passport-sized photo

5) Non-degree Programs in eBLCU

(1)passport-sized photo
(2) Certificate/diploma of highest education

2. Non-degree students (Short-term Program for Language and Cultural Studies; In-service Training Program; Advanced Visiting Scholar Program)

(1) Academic diploma: a copy of the applicant's latest academic diploma or certificate of university education.
(2) A photocopy of applicant's passport.
(3) A photocopy of the applicant emergency contact (can be a passport, license, or other official ID of Chinese citizen or foreigner).
(4) Photocopy of payment (for applicants paying by T/T or online).
(5) One passport-sized photo

3. Short-term Summer Chinese Programs for Teenagers

(1) A photocopy of applicant's passport.
(2) One passport-sized photo
(3) Letter of guarantee

4. Applicants who have been studying in other universities in China should provide three more documents:

(1) A sealed transfer permission letter from the Foreign Students' Office of the university.
(2) A recommendation letter from the class teacher.
(3) A copy of the applicant's visa or residence permit in China.


Application Qualifications

1.College Certificate Program
Applicant should be a senior high school graduate or with equivalent schooling in the age bracket of 18-50.

2.B.A. Program
Applicant should be a senior high school graduate or with equivalent schooling in the age bracket of 18-50,with an HSK certificate (level 3 or above).

3.M.A. Program
Applicant should be under 40 years old and have acquired a Bachelor's degree or evidence of its equivalent. And an HSK Level 6 certificate is a prerequisite.

4.Ph.D. Program
Applicant should be under 45 years old, and have a Master's degree or equivalent, and two recommendation letters from his/her advisors (full or associate professors), an HSK Level 9 certificate (C level or above for advanced learner).

5.Advanced Visiting Scholar Program
The applicant should be under 50 years old and have a Master's degree or equivalent, with the goal of pursuing further research in a specialized subject.

6.Refresher Program (1 or 2 years)
The applicant should have finished at least two years of university education or equivalent schooling and be in the age bracket of 18-50.

7.Language Learners Program
The applicant should be a senior high school graduate in the age bracket of 18-50.

8.Short Term Refresher Program
The applicant should be a senior high school graduate in the age bracket of 15-60.

9. Short-term Summer Chinese Programs for Teenagers
The applicant should be a senior high school graduate in the age bracket of 15-17.

10.Teachers Training Program
The applicant should have a B.A. degree, and be currently teaching or intending to teach Chinese as a second language.
All applicants should be healthy so as to pursue their study in the university. A copy of applicant's academic credentials should be submitted.

11. Bachelor's Degree Online Course in eBLCU

Applicant should be a senior high school graduate with age above 18.

12. Non-degree Online Program in eBLCU

Applicants with any education backgroud can apply for these programs.

NOTES:
1. Applicants for B.A. Program of Chinese Language and Chinese Culture must submit a photocopy of HSK Certificate--Level 3 (Elementary or Intermediate) or higher. Those who have basic knowledge of Chinese language without any HSK certificate should take the HSK test at BLCU. Only qualified students can be admitted as B.A. students. Those who fail the test shall be enrolled as language students to study in a foundation class for half a year. After they finish the half year of study and pass HSK Level 3, they can further their studies as B.A. students. HSK test applicants need to submit three passport photos along with other required documents. The test fee is RMB 250.

2. Applicants for B.A. programs in which they will attend classes together with Chinese students need to submit a copy of an HSK Level 6 (or above) certificate.

3. Chinese Government Scholarship students and Exchange students need to follow the guidelines prescribed in the relevant regulations or agreement.
