School of International Education is one of the subordinate schools of Jiangnan University (JNU). Its main duties include the education and supervision of international students, Chinese language training for foreigners and the administration of exchange programs with foreign universities.

Since 1964 when Jiangnan University begin to accept international students, she has developed many students from more than 60 countries. School of International Education acts on the conceptions of opening up and innovation, advocating rigorous scholarship, and cultivating talents. The School has accumulated many years' experience in the recruitment of foreign students and has continuously enlarged international students' scale. All the programs offered in Jiangnan University can recruit international students to pursue different disciplines leading to Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees. General and Advanced scholars are also admitted. Some majors at the postgraduate level can be conducted through English media. Presently, there are nearly 500 foreign students on campus, allocated in the School of Food Science and Technology, School of Biotechnology, School of Business, School of Information Technology, School of Foreign Languages and School of International Education etc.

Based on many years' experience in Chinese language training, we have a teaching team consisting of more than 20 full-time or part-time teachers. We offer beginner courses, intermediate courses and advanced courses for Chinese language training. We also offer various short-term learning courses; folk customs and culture courses, spare-time oral courses and holiday immersion courses to different learners, including foreign enterprises' staff (families inclusive).

The construction aim of making Jiangnan University into a characterized high-level university revolves around the co-operation with foreign universities, the import of excellent teaching resources, concepts and new modes. This has permitted us to cultivate talents with an international horizon, multi-cultural structure and good comprehensive qualities. Jiangnan University has not only co-operated with Canada to establish JNU-Lambton College, but has also continuously developed co-operation with other famous universities in England, the USA, Holland, Ireland, Australia, Japan, Korea and Canada. In the near future, there will be co-operation in Bioscience, Food Science, Art Design, Computer Science and Practice, Software Engineering, Education and Linguistics through a form of crossing courses, exchanging teaching materials, importing teachers and mutual-recognition of credits. Jiangnan University will adapt the 1+3, 2+2, 3+1 or 3+1+1, 1+1 mode to co-cultivate undergraduate and graduate students, so that students can have an excellent education both at home and abroad, and in the meantime those students who have a dream to further study abroad can have an economic, convenient and reliable way. School of International Education is responsible for exploring, organizing and implementing these programs.

The School also assumes responsibilities for providing international students with living accommodations. There are more than 600 rooms with a complete-set of furniture, telephone, internet, television, air-conditioner in the International Students' Apartment Buildinl. The building offers accommodation and entertainment to create good conditions for both studying and living.

School of International Education provides a window for international exchange at Jiangnan University, and is also an envoy of friendly communication, a pleasant place to cultivate excellent Chinese and International talents and a bridge to the world.


Geographic location

School of International Education in Jiangnan University is located in Wuxi, a city situated on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and is 128 kilometres from Shanghai. Wuxi, with a total area of 4787 square kilometres and a total population of 4.5 million, has a prosperous economy and beautiful scenery. Wuxi is one of the Fifteen China Economy-Centered Cities, and one of the Ten Key Tourism Cities.
