Program Description
Introduction
There are three levels for long-term Chinese program, namely elementary, intermediate and advanced level. The length of the course is designed as one semester or one academic year long, with 14 and 28 weeks of teaching respectively.
Students will have to sit for two tests each semester: midterm and final test. The midterm test is arranged at the 7th week of each semester and the final test is on the 15th week. The final score is a combined result of regular on-class test score, midterm test score and final test score, with the proportion of 1:2:7.
By doing the long-term Chinese learning program, you will get a deep insight into the Chinese language and culture, in addition to the competitive communication skills in Chinese. Our long-term program provides you with an ideal outlet to further study or research in a Chinese context.

Chinese Calligraphy and painting, Chinese Kungfu, Taiji,.Chinese Dances, I-go Game, Chinese Customs, HSK lectures (elementary and intermediate), Elementary Oral Chinese for Economy & Trade, Computer Application in Chinese Language, Newspaper Reading, Modern Chinese Phonetics, General Introduction to Chinese Character, Modern Chinese Grammar, Chinese language and social culture, Peoples and Customs in China, Poems of Tang Dynasty, Chinese Movies, Chinese Music, etc.
Extracurricular Activities
Visit to Suzhou's cultural heritage such as Suzhou Museum and Suzhou Silk Museum, Suzhou ancient gardens, Tiger Hill Pagoda. On weekends, we will take longer sightseeing excursions to areas around Suzhou including Zhouzhuang, Xitang (traditional southern Watertown) and Hangzhou(self-paid), all kinds of gala evenings organized by the XJTLU every semester, Chinese language competitions, field and track sports competitions, football matches and so on. (Self-paid).
Professional Teachers
All of our teachers are trained and experienced and are familiar with common problems students face when learning a new language, as well as culturally competent and integrate aspects of Chinese culture and daily life into their lessons. All of our teachers have a Master degree or above in linguistics, and they are required to have rich experience in teaching Chinese to foreigners.
Language & Culture Programme
We offer the level of study from complete beginners through to highly advanced learners, from survival to social even professional level. Our training is interactive, "hands-on" and practical. We focus on what is relevant through stimulating activities so that you experience the language as you would in real life and the teaching will incorporate a task based approach. The facilities at XJTLU and HET are first-class.
